Owen Sound Taxpayers Pay a Greater Portion of Their Wages on Taxes
This demonstrates more than anything else the impact of years of uncontrolled spending has had on life in Owen Sound.
Owen Sound has the unique distinction of having the lowest wages and the highest taxes in the County.
This will only get worse if this problem is not addressed because the population of wage earners is shrinking.

Midland has very similar wages to Owen Sound at the 75 percentile, about $56,500. If your Midland home had an assessed value of $400k you would pay 8.67% of your wages to pay your property taxes or $4,898 per year.  If you lived in Owen Sound you would pay 10.72% of your wages to pay your property taxes or $6,056.  That works out to be $1,158 more of your wages going to taxes solely due to Owen Sound's years of high tax increases.
